Krowji Christmas Open Studios was great this year – over 30 artists and designers welcoming hundreds of visitors into their studios – lots of good conversations and an excuse to crack open the Quality Street! Thanks to everyone who came over the weekend.
Lots more photos from all the other studios on Krowji Artists Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Krowji-Artists-Page/207235989289429?fref=t
Just started some small paintings on board and small-to-medium sized canvases: aiming to have them ready for Krowji’s Open Studios in Redruth (30th Nov – 2nd Dec) and the ‘Launch Collective’ show at The Crypt Gallery, St Ives (1st-7th Dec).
I’m also taking a lot of photos and starting to make some short films that I want to show with some of the paintings, testing out a more inter-disciplinary way of working.
All the work is about place: the everyday, the driven-past-at-speed, the exceptional, the beautiful, the ugly and the forgotten places that I encounter.
Here are some photos from the studio from July-September 2012: a series of small paintings on board is developing, based on photos and mixed media drawings I made early this Summer. I’ve been enjoying a return to using oil paint, although I’m also still working on paper with Indian ink, acrylic and enamel spray paint.
I am also starting to explore the lens-based media facilities at University College Falmouth, as I’ve started the MA Fine Art there. I hope to have developed some multi-disciplinary work in time for the MA interim show in January 2013.
For now, the focus is on finishing the small paintings and some related works on paper in time for Krowji’s Christmas Open Studios, which are Friday 30 November until Sunday 2 December.
